Announcing the Awards, John Hulme, Organiser of Cheshire Best Kept Stations, said:

“This year is the Competition’s ninth year and my judges have once again had a difficult job assessing which stations should win these coveted awards.

Whether it is nice-looking gardens, a tidy station, staff customer care or simply a station that has improved, this all adds to a better place to travel from and a more welcoming reception for those visiting Cheshire.

I am told Cheshire is the only county in England that has its own Best Kept Station Competition but its real success comes from those that work on the stations especially our community volunteers.

Whilst I congratulate all those that have won awards, everyone in Cheshire is a winner as the travelling public can all enjoy a better departure and arrival”.

David Roberts, retired Managing Director of Roberts Bakery in Rudheath and the Special Guest presenting the Awards, said:

“Roberts Bakery has been pleased to support Cheshire Best Kept Stations since its inception.

Making our stations better places to travel from is good news for those that live and work in Cheshire.

The partnership working between the rail industry, the town halls and the community groups is a unique example of how Cheshire makes things happen.

I especially want to commend the Friends Groups and volunteers – those unsung heroes in the Community.”
