Cheshire at its Best
Chris Brown, Chief Executive of Marketing Cheshire which is charged with the role of promoting Cheshire, said:
“All those involved with our Cheshire Best Kept Stations should be congratulated and thanked.
Whether they are a volunteer community group, station staff or from our town halls, they are making a real and positive difference for those travelling to Cheshire by Train.
It is an essential part of marketing Cheshire as our stations provide a first and last impression for the many people visiting our county”.
FOURTEEN railway stations in Cheshire are celebrating success after winning awards at the Cheshire Best Kept Station Competition Annual Awards Evening.
Over 100 guests including The Lord Lieutenant of Cheshire, along with the High Sheriff and six Mayors including the Lord Mayor of Chester were at the evening held at the Weaver Hall Museum in Northwich.
With its powerful flower show of a station Frodsham Railway Station was named the Best Kept Station in Cheshire. The Cheshire West and Chester Award went to Northwich and the Cheshire East Award was won by Nantwich.
36 stations were nominated in the annual competition which included awards ranging from the Most Improved Station to Best Staffed Station to Best Kept Gardens.
Other stations that won awards were received by Alsager, Chelford, Crewe, Ellesmere Port, Frodsham, Greenbank, Handforth, Helsby, Holmes Chapel, Lostock Gralam, Rose Hill and Runcorn Railway Stations.
