Chester

Enjoy the vibrant atmosphere and magnificent architecture of the City of Chester.

Chester is famous for its Roman walls, The Rows (historic two-tiered shopping galleries) and horse racing at The Roodee.

Internationally-famous collections of Roman artefacts are exhibited at the Grosvenor Museum with its galleries of Roman tombstones, silver and natural history.

Ten minutes walk from the station is Chester Cathedral.  Amongst its outstanding features are the Cobweb Picture, the Quire stalls and the surrounding gardens.

A bus ride away is Chester Zoo - a great day out for the family - where there are over 5,000 animals to see, including the UK's largest breeding colonies of chimpanzees and orang-utans.

If you enjoy boating, cruising, alfresco art and riverside cafes - try the River Dee which runs through the centre of Chester.

Cheshire Best Kept Stations is supported by Cheshire West and Chester, Cheshire East, Cheshire Crimebeat, Visit Chester and Cheshire, Northern Rail, Vigin Trains and Roberts Bakery
